Schedule an appointment to work out a specific diet plan tailored to your pet. To get some ideas on what we need to know to formulate a plan click on these web pages.
AND THE OTHER BIG QUESTION--What To Feed to Get My Pet To Lose Weight?
HOW FAST SHOULD WEIGHT LOSS HAPPEN?
Healthy weight loss should be slow and gradual. Crash dieting and rapid weight loss can be disasterous, especially for cats. To make sure your cat is losing at a safe and effective rate, weigh your pet frequently and monitor trends. Weight should be checked at LEAST once monthly.
If your pet is losing faster or slower than these rates re-evaluation and a new diet plan is needed!
And Don't Forget about Exercise, the other part of the equation for weight loss success!
Exercise Tips for Pet Weight loss Click for a link to our web page with lots of exercise tips for both cats and dogs. To acheive weight loss, restricting calorie intake is only part of the battle. Exercise plays a huge role. In dogs, exercise is 40% of the successful weight loss program. Without exercise it is much more difficult for dogs to lose weight. In cats, exercise is also important, but is probably only contributes to 10-20% of the program.
